A-Z Media Group, Inc. was founded in 1999 by Dennis Conforto. Specializing in online retailing, the company became one of the Internet’s largest owners of domain names operating under the ShopA-Z.com name. By 2001, the business plan related to the use of those domain names was modified to an affiliate business model. This modification served to connect consumers with nearly 3,000 online retail, service, and travel businesses including Wal-Mart, Sears, Marriott, and American Airlines. In 2007, A-Z Media Group, Inc. announced it was shifting ShopA-Z.com from an affiliate model to a consumer-direct model with an initial offering of over 25,000 SKUs.

One of the domain names acquired in 1999 was Scrapbooking.com which was a small community site. After the acquisition, it was converted into an online magazine. Today Scrapbooking.com Magazine is the most popular online scrapbooking publication with more than 350,000 readers/month from over 100 countries. The magazine is free to its readers and provides advertisers a low-cost model that consistently delivers high returns. Scrapbooking.com Magazine is a vital resource for scrapbooking businesses due to its efforts to increase traffic to both online and brick and mortar storefronts.

In addition to Scrapbooking.com Magazine, the website also publishes the scrapbooking industry’s most popular weekly business and consumer newsletters. In 2007, Scrapbooking.com Magazine produced the National Scrapbookers Trend Report. This is the largest and most comprehensive trending report in the industry. The Trend Report is now produced for the industry yearly and distributed by the Photo Marketing Association (PMA).

By 2002 the company had expanded its product offerings and formed the A-Z Media division. A-Z Media provides media buying and television commercial production services for retailers throughout North America. A-Z Media offers additional services such as email match, email marketing and private label newsletters.

The SMART Group was formed in 2005 to provide business related educational services to the scrapbooking industry. In 2007, PMA purchased the intellectual property of The SMART Group. After the sale to PMA, The SMART Group became an industry-wide buying group. The SMART Group membership is composed of retailers, manufacturers, distributors, service companies and publishers. The SMART Group also produced two CHA SMART Stores in 2006 and 2007 and will produce the PMA SMART Store in January of 2008.

In 2007, the company announced the creation of Scrapbook Stories, the reality TV series based on the incredible stories behind every photo. Release of the TV series is expected to be in the 2008 fall season. It is anticipated that this new TV series will facilitate the move of scrapbooking from a niche hobby market to a worldwide audience. Such exposure has the potential to bring in millions of new scrapbookers into the category.

A-Z Media Group, Inc. is based in Southern California with satellite offices located throughout the United States.
